The crypto landscape: a market in transition
The past year has been a tumultuous one for the crypto markets. We've seen a significant downturn, with Bitcoin and Ethereum experiencing notable declines, and the broader altcoin market entering a prolonged bear phase.
This has led many to question the viability of crypto investments. However, what we are witnessing is not the end of crypto, but a necessary market correction and a flight to quality.
The speculative excesses of the past are being washed away, leaving behind the projects and technologies with real-world utility. This is a natural and healthy evolution for any disruptive technology.

Stablecoins: the bedrock of the new digital economy
Amidst the market volatility, one sector has shown remarkable resilience and growth: stablecoins. With a global transaction value of $33 trillion in 2025, a 72% increase from the previous year, stablecoins are proving to be the bedrock of the new digital economy.
But the first generation of stablecoins was just the beginning. We are now entering the era of “Stablecoin 2.0,” a new model that is more transparent, compliant, and community-driven. By tokenizing real-world assets (RWAs) like government bonds and money market funds, we can create a more stable and efficient financial ecosystem.
“The promise of Web3 is that the community, the people who put the money into the system, are the ones that should reap the rewards.”

The nexus of AI and capital: a new frontier
The next frontier in this digital revolution is the intersection of artificial intelligence and capital. AI agents are becoming increasingly sophisticated, capable of transacting, communicating, and coordinating on behalf of humans.
However, the current internet infrastructure is not equipped to handle this new paradigm. It lacks a native way to distinguish between humans and machines, and the existing payment systems are a bottleneck for machine-to-machine transactions.
This is where blockchains become essential. As a16z crypto stated:
“If we want an internet where AI agents can operate without destroying trust, blockchains are not optional infrastructure: They are the missing layer that makes an AI-native internet work.”
Blockchains provide the trust, security, and efficiency needed for AI agents to operate and transact in a decentralized manner. The native currency for these AI agents will be crypto, not traditional fiat currencies. We are already seeing the emergence of AI-native financial institutions and infrastructure protocols that are solving the challenges of machine-scale payments.
The path forward: a new age of ownership
We are moving towards a future where individuals have more control over their digital assets and can participate more directly in the value they help create. This is the promise of Web3, and it is a future that I am dedicated to building.
The road ahead will not be without its challenges. Regulatory frameworks are still evolving, and the technology is constantly changing. But the momentum is undeniable.
